RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Information and Knowledge Discovery Lab, Viterbi School of Engineering
University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA
Visiting Scholar Nov.2018 – Apr.2019
- Under supervision by Assistant Professor Xiang Ren
- Worked on knowledge graph completion with supervision from graph structures or text
- Proved that text relation extraction and pattern mining helps in achieving better performance in knowledge graph completion tasks
- Examined effects of temporal KG reasoning models on monographs (KGs with only 1 relation)
- Submission to EMNLP 2019 has been accepted, and one to NeurIPS 2019 as co-authors pending review
Cambridge Vehicle Dynamics Consortium
University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK
Research Intern Jul.2018 – Sept.2018
- Under supervision by Professor David Cebon and Senior Research Fellow Xiaoxiang Na
- Developed an implementation for conversion between coordinate systems, and elevation inference based on coordinates from the UK Ordnance Survey LIDAR database
- Collected sensors and GPS data from real-world operating trucks, and compared data accuracy between elevation data retrieved from various sources
- Achieved 50% more accuracy on weight and rolling factor inference based on force analysis and regression analysis formulas
Artificial Intelligence Lab, School of Computer Science
Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China
Research Intern Jan.2018 – Nov.2018
- Under supervision by Professor Fei Wu of Zhejiang University
- Optimized Beijing’s 3000-line, 10K-station transit network model to cut passenger daily commute time by adding and changing lines and station positions, based on the 600K-user real home-to-work data from Baidu Map and annual network changes as ground truth
- Implemented Tensorforce and Q-Routing Reinforcement Learning algorithms, comparing it with Ant Colony Optimization, Genetic Algorithm and other optimization algorithms set out historically for this issue while not to this scale
- Programs are under testing for effect comparisons
PROJECTS
IBM Student Innovation Lab
Image Table Recognition & Content Extraction Team
Joint Researcher Dec.2017 – Apr.2018
- Recognized formulated tables such as tickets, tax invoices, etc., into formalized data interface for data analysis and registry usages
- Detected tables based on OpenCV, and used Recursive Neural Network with CTC as an end-to-end OCR device in assisting the process
- Achieved considerable accuracy on random pictures, e.g. tabled receipts and score lists, collected from the Internet
- Was Awarded Outstanding Performer by IBM GCG University Partnership
Zhejiang University Model United Nations Association
Delegate Management System
Developer, Maintainer Jan.2017 – Oct.2017
- Wrote the demand document according to delegation recruitment routines of general Model United Nations conferences
- Conducted feature upgrading including a new user interface and temporary feature adjustments, and performed online implementation after server migration, debugging, and normalization to ensure future reuse and better user experience
- Fulfilled 800 registered delegates’ academic, authentication, payment and business needs
The Mathematic Contest in Modeling, 2017
Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications
Contestant Jan.2017
- Collected usable precipitation and river hydrology data from open sources of Zambezi River Basin
- Used C++ to implement a flow simulation program, based on the basin water flow model using basic hydrological principles
- Used Matlab to generate annual flow and precipitation expectations based on monthly average and extreme data
- Received Meritorius Winner Award
